It is a most wonderful feeling to be part of a family, a clan and people that have common roots and common blood. Yes, it does give one a marvellous sense of security of belonging and not being an alien in an alien land nor a stranger in a strange country!
I put this note on the photo on Flickr: “Sometimes it is hard to see the trees for the wood…”
Also, it is worth noting regarding this photo: it is the same one, just different sizes – that this photo belongs to a set of photos, which were taken by me through the car windows, while being driven at quite a speed through the Finnish countryside one evening in May!! No, I did not do the driving as well, for tis enough multitasking in taking the shots. Hehe.
My thinking in linking this photograph with the theme of Roots is this: In order to grow up strong(ly), one must grow down firm(ly). It is said of trees that their roots go into the soil as deep down as they are up high – otherwise they would topple over and be pulled off their roots in any storm or whatever wind may blow…
These trees are still very young but have more or less reached their height as Birch Trees and they will just get thicker in the middle as the years go by. Rather like we people, eh?!
Tis for now – Riihele xx.
