Bitter-Sweet of Life – Poem

The
bitter-sweet
of life.

Life is
a combination
of the two
in varied
doses and degrees.

Sometimes
more of
the bitter

– sadness;

other times
more of
the sweet

- gladness.

Whichever way
it may be,
the two sides
are there
to balance

each other out.

NOTE:

Bitter is never pleasant
- but it is needed at times as it has a ’sobering’ effect on us.

Sweetness can be sickening, too
- ever eaten too much honey or had too many candies…

It is like the ingredients for a cake:
the only thing that is sweet, is the sugar,
the rest are bland or tasteless!

But the end result of all of them together,
the combination of all the ingredients,
is a most delicious cake
- fresh and sweet tasting to the palate
and cheering to the heart.
